Pharmaceutical Services Department has the mandate to implement the National Drug Policy (NDP) which is ensuring a sustainable access to efficacious and good quality medicines at all levels of health care on the basis of health need. We have achieved this by establishing, maintaining and strengthening the Drugs Services Revolving Fund (DSRF) system in the FCTA hospitals.

 The Department is made up of two Divisions; namely Pharmaceutical Care Services, Drug Information Services (PCS & DIS) and Drug Revolving Fund (DRF).

Services rendered by the Department in all the FCTA Health facilities include Pharmaceutical Care Services, Unit Dose Dispensing System (UDDS), Patient Counseling and Drug Information Services among others.

 The practice of this profession which is dynamic is also changing with time and has shifted from product oriented pharmacy practice to patient oriented one where the main focus is the treatment outcome on the patient and parameters like adverse drug reactions are observed and documented for the purpose of improving on the drug or banning it.

 GOAL

The main goal of the Department is to provide excellent Pharmaceutical Services to the residents of the FCT which is patient oriented pharmacy practice through a sustainable Drug Revolving Fund (DRF) scheme   where uninterrupted supply of safe, efficacious, affordable and good quality drugs and other consumables are made available at all times with the aim of eradicating out of stock (o/s) syndrome, in all FCTA health facilities as well as providing optimum pharmacotherapy that will improve the quality of life of FCT populace.

 FUNCTIONS

The pharmacy practice which is dynamic has shifted from product    oriented to patient oriented where the main focus is the treatment outcome on the patient with adverse drug reactions observed and documented for necessary interventions and policy formations on the affected drugs.

 The Pharmaceutical Services Department has two (2) divisions

  2. Drug Revolving Fund and Staff Training
