Healthcare service in Karshi began as a Primary Health Centre, one of the only three (3) in Abuja opened under the late minister of Health Professor Ransom Kuti. On the 4^th of May 1992, Karshi General Hospital was initiated it was commissioned by the then Military President-General Ibrahim Badamasi Babagida under the leadership of the First hospital Chairman Dr. Fashola assisted by Dr. Bryma. The First head of Nursing was matron Nwaba Monica; assisted by Matron Rukiya Yusuf and Mrs. Victoria Chibueke (ward attendant/clerical duty).

The first secretary of the Hospital was Mr. Hudu. The founding units were: Pharmacy, Nursing (male & female wards, Antenatal), GOPD, Laboratory, Scanning and Store. There was no electricity supply/no generator, Lanterns were used to light the Hospital. There were Doctors and NYSC copers lodge in use related services.

The second Hospital Chairman was Dr. David Ayenbe assisted by Dr. Faiye. The second Hospital secretary was Ifeoma Eze. During this tenure call rooms and fence were built. In 2004 the then ACNO Jibrin Umar was posted to set up a theatre for the Hospital operations which were only done of Wednesday by Dr. Evans. The mortuary equipment in the hospital were removed for lack of use for a long time. The first fairly used generator were supplied to the Hospital.
